You talk to the owner
Louis Williams is not a name on a website. He is the person who walks your property, prices it, and answers when you call.
18 years managing Metro Detroit property, 30+ years in Michigan real estate, a Southfield home, and a business built on the idea that property ownership should not feel like a second job.
Louis Williams was not planning to be in real estate. He was helping his church with a property deal — the kind of negotiation nobody expects a volunteer to win — and he leaned on instinct and a refusal to accept the first number. It worked. That outcome is why he went into real estate full time, and he has never looked back.
Southfield has been home for many years. It is where he lives, works, and raised his family, which is the reason the business is built the way it is: personal, local, and answerable. When something goes wrong at one of the properties we manage, the person who has to explain it is the person whose name is on the door.
Homerun-Homes has been in the property management business for 18 years, since November 2008. That came after years of buying and selling — 30+ years in Michigan real estate all told — and the two halves feed each other. Managing a building teaches you what it actually costs to own one; selling them teaches you what one is worth.
Across that time Louis has helped investors, families, and organisations make decisions about property — buying, selling, managing, and knowing when to do none of the three. Family homes and commercial buildings. First-time buyers who needed the process explained twice and portfolio owners who needed a straight answer fast.
What that time actually buys you is pattern recognition. Which streets lease and which ones look like they should. What a roof deferral costs three winters later. Which applicant story holds up when you make the reference call, and which one does not.
Homerun-Homes exists to keep properties running smoothly and to make ownership as close to stress-free as a building full of moving parts can be. Professional, reliable, community-focused — and honest enough to tell an owner that the right move is to sell, or that the repair they want does not pay for itself.
We cover every base. That is not a slogan about baseball. It is about the fact that property management fails at the edges: the reference nobody called, the notice nobody served on time, the invoice nobody filed. Covering every base is the job.

Homerun-Homes has managed Metro Detroit rentals since November 2008, backed by 30+ years of buying and selling in these same neighbourhoods — which streets lease, which do not, and what a property is actually worth.
The tenant decision determines everything downstream, so it is where we spend the most time and the least optimism.
Repairs go to insured, licensed trades with written quotes — not whoever answered the phone.
Monthly statements, attached invoices, and a year-end summary that does not need reconstructing in April.
A management company can only offer management. We can also list it — and we will say so when selling is the better move.
Different situations, same underlying problem: a property that needs someone competent looking after it.
You bought one property, or you moved and kept the old house. Nobody handed you a manual. We will walk you through what the first year actually looks like.
You cannot drive past it, meet a contractor, or show it on a Saturday. That is exactly the job — being the person on the ground in Metro Detroit.
Duplexes, flats, and small buildings where one bad tenancy affects the neighbours too. Screening and enforcement get tighter, not looser.
Consolidated reporting, consistent standards across properties, and a straight answer on which assets are carrying the others.
A property you did not plan for, often with deferred maintenance and family members who disagree. We can rent it, fix it, or sell it — and explain the trade-offs first.
Louis started in real estate on a church project, negotiating a deal nobody expected to land. Organisation-owned property is still work we take personally.
